We’re so excited that Easter is around the corner… some of us have been very well behaved for Lent, barring a little treat on St.Patrick’s Day! We are so going to enjoy the choccy treats this Easter.. Believe it when we say it is so difficult be well behaved in an environment when quality control and tasting is central to our day and our exploration of new treats, new tasters embraced the challenge in 2016 and are happy to continue it seems….
For those of us who survived the challenge we’re not sure where to start with the treats… we’re surrounded with so many the decision is gonna be tough. Our Easter egg display is certain to get an attack with fabulous creations of Benoit Lorge, “Lorge” from Bonane, Co. Kerry and the sumptuous Skelligs Eggs, some of them solid chocolate!, also from Co. Kerry. We’ve also just received our new delivery of luxury Marshmallows from Brighton, handmade chocolates from Cocoa Atelier in Dublin and french truffles will be here by the end of the week..
Of course we will also have a wee look at our bakery display where Paolo and Susan have been dedicating themselves to Easter inspired creations and cakes. Our favourite adage appears once again… it’s the little things! So relax and enjoy Easter treats with those nearest and dearest while school is out and the long weekend gives us all an excuse to unwind. Of course the Easter Sunday dinner is a big and oft bustling occasion, we’re thinking Roast Leg of Spring Lamb with sage and apricot stuffing with pomegranate gravy, bowls of hearty greens and creamy mashed potato… Yum!
We are bustling along too with our idea for a Wine Club, we’re going to embrace our love of grapes to learn new things and savour new tastes. This will be a simple exploration of the world of wine with Wines of the Month brought to you with lots of information, tasting notes and menu suggestions. Member discounts will be available and guided tastings a couple of times a year. We’ve lots to plan but it should be an interesting journey.
In the interim we wish you all the very best this Easter season, for blessings of family and friends, travel fun and foodie fun,
The Poppy Girls
