PoppySeed … experiential daytime dining

PoppySeed gourmet cafes operate daytime eateries focusing on a quality food experience where personality of people and food are the order of the day. Led by a team of four women linked by the ties of family, friendship and a real love of hospitality PoppySeed is a food business with real soul.

Since 2007 PoppySeed has built a distinctive reputation for serving quality, fresh menu options led by flavour, taste and seasonality. The kitchen teams are led by qualified chefs and over 90% of items are produced on site. The menus are extensive with both wholesome and classic breakfast options, lunchtime options and heartier choices too.

All pastries and cakes are produced in the dedicated off-site bakery and scones and breads are made fresh seven days a week! PoppySeed also offers a catering service to private and commercial clients, more details on our catering page!

OUR CHEF

Judy Forde leads the kitchen team at PoppySeed and is simply a chef with real talent, flare and passion for food. Having trained in GMIT she traveled with her trade in London, Canada, and Ireland before returning to her Galway routes.

Flavour and respect for food are the anchors of her menus – food should be treated with care and attention. She works hard to train her team to bring out the best quality from all ingredients and constantly refreshed menus and specials to keep the kitchen activity interesting and fresh!

ALI

Ali, who hails from Carnmore, joined the PoppySeed team full time in 2015 but too has been part of the journey from the start. She studied Hotel and catering in GMIT and has worked in hotels in Germany and Ireland.
None of us can keep up with her pace, Ali is most recognised by her speed at work and our attempts to keep up are modest at best!
She has a real flare for food and beverage and excels in delivering the highest of service standards and is challenged with the general operations and catering at PoppySeed and AJLA.

Ali enjoys the variety and fun of her role. There are always different events and a challenge to deliver something new

ALI

LISA

Lisa joined PoppySeed full-time in 2008 but has been part of the team since day one. Hailing from the village of Ballindeereen only a few miles from Clarinbridge she has been working with Anne, Judy and Ali since 1999!

Lisa has a real interest in food having been well tutored by her amazing mum, Geraldine who excelled as hostess and cook. Lisa now spends as much time as possible cooking up a storm in her own kitchen and with two smallies at her feet and delivers creative and exciting dinners at home.

Lisa specialised in Marketing at NUIG and now at AJLA and PoppySeed is tasked with all the fun elements of the operation from HACCP to HR and menus to marketing. She is a treasure for details and finishing what she starts!
